NEXSAN EXPANDS STORAGE MARKET WITH DEVELOPMENT OF FIRST SECURE STORAGE APPLIANCE

Marriage of Nexsan with Canadian Company Spawns Assureon, Which Combines Security, ILM Technology and Disk Storage Into a Single Architecture for Midrange and Enterprise Environments.

Assureon provides the utmost in data security through advanced encryption, authentication and data protection technologies, combined with fully featured lifecycle management, RAID hardware and content addressed storage technology, along with seamless support for tape and optical -- never before achieved in a single, fully integrated networked storage system.

The software was developed by Montreal, Quebec-based Evertrust. They had been developing software aimed at storage vendors looking to add compliance capabilities to their arrays. That was what got the attention of Nexsan who were impressed enough to purchase the company. "We think that it's very important to have an owned solution ... rather than a hardware-software solution for long-term data," said Diamond Lauffin, Executive Vice President of Nexsan Technologies. Nexsan Technologies is looking to go head-to-head with the likes of EMC and Hewlett-Packard with its product announcement.
