OPEN STORAGE SOLUTIONS® Options now available for Archival Storage Equipment NMSO
Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) today confirmed that the options portion of the OSS current National Master Standing Offer (E60EJ-04000T/A) have been approved.
Brampton, February 15th, 2007 – Open Storage Solutions® Inc., a leader in providing data storage solutions in Canada has been notified by Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) that the options portion of the current National Master Standing Offer (NMSO) has been approved. As of February 14, 2007, these options have been added to the Open Storage Solutions’ systems recently approved by PWGSC, and published on the Canadian Government Computer Acquisition Guide website which can be found at: http://computer.pwgsc.gc.ca/storage/open/open_main-e.cfm
“The options, typically, are upgrades and enhancements
to the default approved systems,” said Karim Kanji, Senior Product Manager at Open Storage Solutions. “These options enable the default systems to meet the performance, capacity or special needs of individual requirements as determined by the end users. Not all needs are the same. For instance, a tape library with a single tape drive may be suitable for one department, but another department with a larger amount of data to back up may also have a smaller backup window and may need a second or third tape drive. The NMSO not only give the end-users an approved system, but the options give the end-users the flexibility to have those systems meet their specialized needs.”
With this number (E60EJ-04000T/A), Government of Canada departments and agencies can acquire a wide variety of computer data storage equipment in a cost-effective and timely manner. All of the equipment included in this agreement has been selected after rigorous benchmark testing and value analysis, conducted in accordance with the laws, regulations and policies affecting public sector procurement in Canada. This contract enables federal offices and installations to purchase the listed products without the need to re-qualify the product or re-negotiate pricing.
The extensive year-long bidding and qualification process was completed in December 2006 with the announcement from Public Works and Government Services Canada. The solutions listed in this NMSO, have met or exceeded the minimum technical requirements as set out by the contracting authority at Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC). These minimum technical requirements have been set out by PWGSC to ensure quality and the highest level of standards deemed acceptable by the Crown and the Federal Government of Canada. Solutions offered on this NMSO include tape backup libraries and autoloaders from Overland Storage as well as the OMEGA F5410 RAID system. The OMEGA F5410 RAID is a high-performance solution and has the flexibility to scale up to meet virtually all storage requirements.
