When storage needs to be directly connected to a server, todays most effective approach is to use SAS (Serial Attached SCSI). SAS provides a high performance host connection altenative to a fiber channel storage area network. SAS can be configured with dynamic multi-path failover for end- to- end redundancy.
Performance SAS drives or Capacity Optimized SATA, your choice!
Now you can match your requirements for Enterprise class performance with SAS drives, together with the need for lower cost, capacity optimized SATA drives, all in one storage subsystem, forefilling the advantages of tiered storage. Our Second Generation SAS/SATA based storage system now also utilizes the highest internal drive connection rates for SATA II and SAS, at
3 Gbytes/second.
