The REO 1500 utilizes high-capacity
SATA disk drives, Gigabit Ethernet
(iSCSI) connectivity and Overland's
A shared storage resource that improves the speed and efficiency of existing tape-based backup environments, the REO 4500 is capable of storing up to 7.5 TB of data per chassis and is expandable to 22.5 TB. The REO 4500c, which includes compression, can provide up to 45TB useable virtual tape capacity.
Both models use RAID 5 disk storage to increase backup reliability while providing near instantaneous recovery of files. Like the REO 1500, the REO 4500 has the added flexibility of Protection OS software, and support for iSCSI connectivity.
Unlike the REO 1500, the REO 4500 supports Fibre Channel connections as well— making it an even more versatile backup and recovery appliance. In addition, the REO 4500 works with existing backup applications that support tape devices, providing a single backup catalog and a single media management system. This seamless compatibility allows for easy deployment and integration into existing backup environments. As a result, REO 4500 users can quickly achieve rapid recovery of backup data from disk while continuing to rely on tape for long term archival storage.
